Description: When AMA began designing the TI space of it's new Portland headquarters, in downtown, our branding team was tasked with the challenge of creating a naming system to differentiate the 4 wings of the building and conference rooms, which informed the placement of materials in the interior spaces. Further, I took on the design and procurement of welcome goodies for employees during the move; and in an incredible group effort, we produced the pieces for the interactive display wall directly outside of the elevators, where clients are greeted.
The buildings wings were named after 4 basic building materials: Metal, Wood, Glass, and Concrete. The conference room signage followed - above image is the model shop, in the metal wing.
All signage was cut from the same blackened steel used in the entirety of the building, exterior and interior.
Though the materiality concepts, along with the interior colors, became easy to understand and navigate for employees and regular visiting clients, CR name and color-coded wayfinding was a necessary addition.
The cork wall that greets visitors in AMA’s main elevator lobby is an analog light-bright as an interactive art project and communication tool. Our team designed and commissioned fabrication of this custom pegboard with trough storage for over 5,000 hand-painted corks.
AMA's welcome package included a branded tote, water bottle, graph paper notebook, AMA confetti pen, and welcome informational booklet. (Booklet designed by Paula Hopker)
